Rich, Alan, and I spent 5 days with Paris as a home base,
making side trips to Versailles and the chateaux along the Loire River as well.

There were many street musicians throughout the city. This bagpiper particularly thrilled me. Another favorite was a man playing a harp near Sacré Coeur.

L'Arc de Triomphe du Carousel in the courtyard of the Louvre. Through the portal you look down the Champs Elysses to the obelisk at the Place de la Concorde and finally to the Arc de Triomphe at the Place d'Étoile.

For my 21st birthday, my parents gave me a copy of this sculpture. The original is located in the Louvre.

We were in Paris the week before Bastille Day, so there were lots of small festivals like this one a block from our apartment. This one included a chess match, so it was particularly interesting to Rich and Alan.
