Gorgeous 6-hour drive from Queenstown to Fox Glacier today. Breakfast at the cheesery again – different assortment of cheeses, just as good as yesterday. Started out a glorious day in Queenstown – no clouds to be seen in the mountains around the city. Drove for hours along two beautiful lakes with views of mountains all around us, then up and over a low pass.
Got misty on the west side of the mountains ... the misty mountains were very picturesque. Some of the drive was then in a dense forest with ferns on the ground below tall trees, while other parts of the drive were along the rugged Tasman Sea coast. Some lovely waterfalls and rivers along the way as well.
It finally got pretty rainy for the last hour of the drive. We're only here for 2 nights and it sounds like it may rain the entire time we are here. Drat! Other than a movie about the glaciers, everything we had planned to do here involves being outdoors. Maybe I'll finally get started posting photos of the trip.
